WordPress plugin

SCORM courses on your WordPress site, no LMS.

Upload a PDF, PowerPoint, Word document, or video from WordPress admin. It becomes a course, you put it on any page, and every logged-in user's completion, score, and time is recorded. Your users stay in WordPress; SCORM Central plays the course and keeps the results.

Zip, 33 KB. WordPress 6.2+ and PHP 7.4+. Free to install; it needs a SCORM Central account and an API key. Not on wordpress.org yet, so install it from the zip.

Install it in five minutes

Start in test mode. It's free on every plan, works on localhost, and allows up to 10 learners, who see a TEST MODE banner.

  1. Install. In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin, choose the zip, then Install Now and Activate.
  2. Get a key. In SCORM Central, open Settings › API keys. Create a test key and enter your site's address as the test site.
  3. Connect. In WordPress, open SCORM Central › Settings, paste the key, tick Test mode, and click Test connection.
  4. Add a course. Under SCORM Central › Courses, upload a file. When it's converted, click Publish.
  5. Put it on a page. Use the SCORM Central block, or paste the shortcode shown next to the course.

On the page

Your users see Start, Resume, or their result

Logged-in users get a course card with Start, Resume, or Review and their status. Visitors who aren't logged in see a login link. The course plays inside the page, with Full screen and Close, or in a new tab if you prefer. When a learner finishes, they come back to the same page with their result.

Shortcodes

Three ways to place a course.

ShortcodeWhat it does
[scormcentral content="46"]The course published from SCORM Central course 46. The same page shows the test course in test mode and the live course in live mode, so you don't edit pages when you go live.
[scormcentral course="12"]One specific delivery course.
[scormcentral_my_courses]Every course the logged-in user has opened, with their result. Put it on an account or dashboard page.

Options on [scormcentral]: mode="embed" or mode="tab" to override where the course opens, and height="700" for the in-page player (300 to 2000 pixels).

Plugin questions

Building on your own site instead? The REST API does everything the plugin does.

Is the plugin free?
Yes, the plugin is free. It needs a SCORM Central account. Test mode is free on every plan, with up to 10 learners; real learners on a live site need a paid plan, from Starter at $19.99 a month.
Do my users need a SCORM Central account?
No. They log in to WordPress as usual. When a logged-in user opens a course, the plugin sends their display name, email address, and an internal id so their result can be reported back to you.
Where are results stored?
In SCORM Central. The plugin also keeps each user's latest status per course in WordPress user meta, so pages load without calling SCORM Central every time. Reports per course, with CSV export, are under SCORM Central › Reports in WordPress admin.
Is the API key exposed to visitors?
No. Every call to SCORM Central is made by your server. Browsers only receive one-time launch links.
Can I use a SCORM package made somewhere else?
The plugin publishes courses built in SCORM Central, from a file you upload or a course you made in the builder. To check a package made in another tool, run it through the free SCORM tester.
Is it on wordpress.org?
Not yet. Download the zip from this page and upload it under Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin.
